Early Season Varieties
SMR Farms grows primarily Hamlin oranges for its early season offerings. Hamlins, a medium-sized generally seedless orange variety, renowned for their pure sweet-tasting juice, are harvested beginning in December and usually ending by early March, if not before. In addition to the Hamlins, we offer Earlygolds, a Valencia-type early-season orange which yields a sweet, deep-orange juice, and harvests during approximately the same time frame as the Hamlins. Acreages are as follows: Hamlins - 306. Earlygolds - 149.

Mid Season Varieties
SMR Farms bridges the orange harvesting season with three midseason orange varieties Midsweets, Pineapples and Vernias. The Midsweet is harvested between January and early March, and is a medium-sized seeded orange with sweet juice having a delicate aroma. The Pineapple is harvested in the same general time frame and is a large seeded orange with very sweet juice. Vernias are a Valencia-type early-season orange which yields a sweet, deep-orange juice. Acreages are as follows: Midsweets - 88. Pineapples - 92. Vernias - 42. |

Late Season Varieties
SMR Farms relies on the workhorse Valencia orange for its late-season offerings. The Valencia is a medium to large orange with few if any seeds, and is loaded with a deep-orange and flavorful juice having a wonderful aroma. Harvesting of Valencias begins in early March and can continue until June. Acreage is as follows: Valencias - 536. |
