What are Air Root Pruned Containerized trees and what does that mean to me? Air Root Pruned Containerized trees are those trees grown exclusively in special containers that ensure strong non-circling root growth. In other words, as the tree grows into the container, the fine outer roots reach the edge of the container and seek out the small holes or slots in the container. Once that happens, the root is "pruned" by contact with the air. The tree continues to produce quality roots in this container until it is replanted in another larger container, or is transplanted into a landscape. Air Root Pruned Containerized trees have virtually a 100% survival rate when transplanted, and experience rapid stabilization in the ground.
What are RPG trees and what does that mean to me? RPG trees stand for 'Roots Plus Growers". RPG represents the adoption by SMR Farms of the latest techniques in producing field-grown trees. RPG trees are managed based on a very strict set of management practices, including periodic root pruning, to ensure that the resulting field-grown product has a very high rate of survival and performance in the landscape. Transplant mortality for RPG trees approaches that for Air Root Pruned Containerized trees, when properly managed.
What kind of guaranty comes with your trees? SMR Farms stands behind all of its products. However, because we are not involved with the tree once it is loaded at our nursery, returns and replacements are decided on a case-by-case basis between our customers and one of our tree experts. Physical injury to the trees is inspected at the time of loading and SMR Farms cannot be responsible for any subsequent injuries during transit, unloading or planting. Incidences of disease or other similar problems will be dealt with promptly and fairly.
Do you provide delivery for trees? Generally, our customers provide their own transportation. SMR Farms personnel will have the trees prepared for loading, and will assist in getting the trees safely onto customer-provided vehicles, including tarping when applicable. SMR Farms can provide delivery throughout the Southeast, subject to advance scheduling and availability of trucks. Costs are subject to change from time to time, so please call to ask about our charges for this service.
